Sean Canney adds his voice to calls for reintroduction of Mortgage Interest Relief

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway East TD Sean Canney has added his voice to the calls on the Finance Minister to reintroduce the Mortgage Interest Relief Scheme.

This is a tax relief on the interest paid in a tax year on a qualifying mortgage loan.

The scheme was ended in 2020, after being extended past its original end date of 2017.

Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Canney said anything we can do to help people buy their own homes will play a role in solving the housing crisis.
