From Galway Bay FM newsroom- Seamount College in Kinvara is celebrating a very special milestone today - it's 100th anniversary.
The school, which has a catchment area of South Galway and North Clare, currently has 565 students.
Originally a shooting lodge, it was used by the IRA during the 1916 rising and again by both sides during the War of Independence.
A short time later, it was converted into a simple school which expanded rapidly over the following decades.
The school is celebrating it's centenary today with a series of events - starting with a special mass at 11am in St. Joseph's Church.
There will also be a tour of the school by staff and students and special panel discussion from past pupils - with local TD's Ciaran Cannon and Anne Rabbitte set to attend.
