Galway Bay fm newsroom - Rural coalition TDs have received assurances that proposals for a ban on the sale or supply of turf won't go ahead as planned.
They voted with the government in the Dáil last night, which saw a Sinn Féin motion to scrap the ban defeated.
The motion also proposed to cancel the upcoming carbon tax increase and temporarily remove excise duty on home heating oil.
Fianna Fail Senator, Eugene Murphy, says he and his party colleagues have been given assurances on the ban.
