Roscommon/Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice says the government's move to honour existing applications under the retrofit scheme is common sense.
Applications lodged before the July deadline for a Deep Retrofit Pilot Programme will be processed.
Funding for the scheme had ended, leading to concerns some homeowners were left out of pocket as their application was being considered.
The Environment Minister Richard Bruton met with the Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland Jim Gannon today over the issue.
It was decided existing applications would be honoured in line with terms and conditions.
