Galway Bay fm newsroom - Roscommon-Galway TD Claire Kerrane has questioned the legal basis on which social protection officials obtained information from people at airports.
It comes as the Government's being accused of being 'sneaky' over the way it's handled the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
2,000 people going abroad had the payment stopped recently. - and under legislation passed through the Dáil last night, people on the payment must now be genuinely looking for work.
The Free Legal Aid Centre has said there was "no clear legal basis" for cutting people's Pandemic Unemployment payment for going abroad.
Speaking at last night's debate, Sinn Fein Deputy Claire Kerrane also questioned its legality.
