Roscommon/Galway TD Denis Naughten says vaccination programme has overlooked vulnerable children

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Roscommon/Galway TD Denis Naughten has voiced concerns about the alleged exclusion of adults who are in constant contact with vulnerable children - from the early phases of the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

The Independent TD has questioned why vulnerable children are not being given the same consideration as 'at risk' adults and older people.

He argues if vulnerable older people are being prioritised based on medical evidence then that same advice should also apply to vulnerable children.

The Independent Deputy says the fact that children cannot be vaccinated at this time due to a lack of trial evidence, it should be even more important to vaccinate those adults who come into daily contact with them.

It comes as this week the cabinet published its list of prioritisation for the COVID-19 vaccine - with under 18s listed last in the queue.

Deputy Naughten says the Government should clarify what specific medical evidence has shaped the priority list....
