Roscommon/Galway TD calls for fuel allowance to be provided to PUP claimants

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The government's being urged to make the fuel allowance available to everyone on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.

Sinn Féin says the measure, which will be debated in the Dáil later, would help families who are struggling to pay bills on reduced incomes.

People must be unemployed for 15 months before they can get help with heating costs.

Sinn Féin social protection spokesperson, and Roscommon Galway TD Claire Kerrane, says the benefits of the plan would outweigh the cost.
