Galway Bay fm newsroom - There was a considerable rise in unemployment across Galway last month.
The live register figures increased in every area of the county, except Clifden.
There were 8,890 people on the live register in Galway last month - a sizable increase of almost 500 compared to June.
In Galway city, the figure rose by 242 to finish at 4,397.
The next highest figure was Tuam at 1,378, where an additional 86 people joined the live register during July.
Next was Ballinasloe at 1,049, representing an increase of 70 people since June.
Loughrea saw an increase of 50, finishing at 879, while 34 additional people joined the live register in Gort, leaving it at 642.
Clifden was the only area to experience a drop in unemployment during July - with the figure of 646 representing 6 less people compared to June.
