The notice issued by Irish Water and Galway County Council is in an effort to safeguard the water supply and build up water reservoir capacity - as the water treatment plant is currently operating intermittently.

As a result customers may experience water outages or low water pressure in Portumna and Killimor as well as areas between the two towns while the works are ongoing.

Irish Water says it will continue to monitor the Portumna treatment plant and will increase production at the plant as soon as it is safe to do so.
