Report to be commissioned on future of St. Brigid's Hospital site

Galway Bay fm newsroom - An independent report is to be commissioned on the future of the St. Brigid's Hospital Ballinasloe site.

Roscommon-Galway senator Maura Hopkins has confirmed that the report will proceed following a meeting with Minister for Mental Health and Older People Jim Daly.

It's understood the new report will compile a masterplan for the future of the hospital and aims to set out an achievable vision that will allow the site to become a key economic driver for the region.

The site is complex as the hospital campus and the surrounding agricultural lands are listed for heritage purposes.
