Report finds Barna has one of lowest rates of walking, cycling and public transport use

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Barna has one of the country's lowest rates of walking, cycling and public transport use.

That's according to a report examining Census data from 2006 to 2016.

The report compiled by the Irish Independent finds the highest cycling rate is in Dublin at just over 7 percent of all trips.

Only Dublin city and Galway city recorded a cycling rate of above 5 percent.

The analysis examining Ireland's most sustainable towns finds Barna is one of the areas with the lowest rates of walking, cycling and public transport use at just over 14 percent.

Galway city and suburbs records a rate of 37 percent.
