Rents in Galway increase by 14 percent over past year

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Rents in Galway have risen by more than 14 percent over the past 12 months.

That's according to the latest report from property website Daft.ie for Q2 of this year.

In Galway City, the average rent is now €1,443 - an increase of 9 percent compared to this time last year.

While in the rest of the county, rents rose by more than 14 percent - now standing at €1,054 on average.

Nationally, rents have increased by almost 6 percent since this time last year.

Ronan Lyons, economist at Trinity College Dublin and author of the Daft report, says locations outside Dublin have seen the biggest jump.
