Galway Bay fm newsroom - Rents in Galway have risen by 16 percent according to the latest figures from property website daft.ie.
The report shows that rents in the county were on average 16 percent higher in the second quarter of this year, compared to 2016.
The average rent in the county is 732 euro.
In the city, rents have increased by 10 percent in the past year with the average rent now advertised at 1 thousand and 26 euro.
A scramble for accommodation is underway in the city following the first round CAO offers yesterday.
Meanwhile, rents in Dublin are now almost 20 per cent higher than their peak in the celtic tiger.
The average national rent now stands at one thousand one hundred and 59 euro - while its 17 hundred in the capital.
Economist with daft.ie, Ronan Lyons says this latest property report shows that things are not improving for prospective tenants in the rental market.
