Galway Bay fm newsroom - Average rents across Galway are up by 10% year-on-year.
Figures published by the Residential Tenancies Board, for quarter one of this year, show average rents in Galway increased from €1,067 to €1,186 over the period.
According to the report, rents in the Galway City Centre electoral district now stand at €1,446, €1,383 in the west ward, €1,125 in Athenry/Oranmore, €1,105 in Connemara South, €934 in Loughrea, €896 in Tuam and €823 in Ballinalsoe.
Nationwide average rents have risen by 4.5% year-on-year to €1,320.
Rental prices outside of Dublin grew three and half times faster than in the capital over the period.
Dublin still commands the highest rents at €1,820 - that's three times higher than in Leitrim where average rents are €596.
Meanwhile, Galway is one of eight counties nationwide where standardised rents are now above €1,000 per month.
