Galway Bay fm newsroom - A public meeting will be held in Westside this weekend to discuss plans to build a new hardstand in the area.
The meeting is being organised by Independent Councillor Mike Cubbard.
The City Council is currently looking at a number of sites in the west of the city for new halting sites to accommodate Traveller families
It's after a report presented to councillors revealed that the Cúl Trá site in Salthill is ‘grossly overcrowded’ and there are serious health and safety concerns.
The site was initially provided to cater for 6 families but there are currently 18 families on site.
It’s proposed to develop plans for temporary halting sites on lands at Ballymoneen Road and Westside.
The public discussion will take place at Westside Community Centre at 2pm on Saturday.
