Public meeting to discuss the future of ETB school in Mountbellew

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A public meeting will take in Mountbellew next week to discuss the future of Coláiste an Chreagáin.

It was announced at the end of March that first year students and transition years will not be taken in this year as the school moves towards becoming a further education and training hub.

From September this year, the school will accommodate less than 50 students in total.

Coláiste an Chreagáin says it’ll continue to support current students to complete their studies up to their next State exam.

Principal Ann Marie Carroll says a continuous decline in enrolments has put pressure on staffing resources and funding – and further education is the most viable option for the future.

A public meeting on the future of the school will take place at Coláiste an Chreagáin this day week(Tues 18th April) at 7.30pm.
