The Minister for Public Expenditure has insisted the West of Ireland will be fully represented in Government despite no senior minister being appointed from the region.
Cabinet Ministers will meet this afternoon as the new coalition begins its first week in office.
The state of the economy and the cost of the wage subsidy scheme will be discussed.
Minister Michael McGrath insists the West is well represented at the discussions.
Galway West TD Hildegarde Naughton, who was one of Fine Gael's senior negotiators during talks on the Programme for Government, assumes the role of Super Junior Minister at the Department of Transport with responsibility for international and road travel and logistics.
It's understood other Ministers of State will be confirmed later this week.
