Public event to celebrate Irish language and An Cheathru Rua

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A fair to celebrate the Irish language and An Cheathrú Rua will take place in the autumn.

Pobal Rua has been chosen as the name for the language planning project in An Cheathrú Rua.

Pobal Rua is inviting community groups, sports clubs and individuals who run activities in Irish in the area to take part in the 'Aonach' or 'fair' in October.

It'll take place from 2 to 5pm on Saturday October 5th in An Crompán.

Language Planning Officer, Majella Ní Chríocháin, says it's important to promote the Irish language in places such as An Cheathrú Rua.
