Galway bay fm newsroom:
A public consultation on the realignment of the R332 at Kilbannon will take place in Tuam next month (2/3).
The scheme will see the upgrade of the road from Duddy's Pub to the GAA pitch.
The works were sought by the local community in Kilbannon due to an increase in traffic volumes accessing the new M18 Motorway.
They'll include the widening of the existing road, installation of a new cycleway and walkway between Saint Benin's National School and the GAA pitch, provision of two pedestrian crossings and public lighting at the crossroads.
At present, Galway County Council and consultant engineers are meeting with landowners along the scheme.
A public consultation will now be held on Monday the 2nd of March, at the Tuam Municipal District Office at High Street, between the hours of 4 and 8pm.
It's expected planning permission will be sought shortly afterwards.
