Galway Bay fm newsroom - Protestors gathered outside Galway County Council offices in the city this afternoon to highlight their opposition to potential mineral mining in Connemara.
Members of the rural campaign group, Glor na Tuaithe, gathered at Prospect Hill to express their concern about current applications for prospective mining.
Canadian company MOAG and BTU Metals Corp are both seeking prospecting licences from the Government with submissions due by August 25th.
MOAG has applied for a licence to prospect in the townlands of Dolan, Callow, Ballinahinch and Murvey.
