Property tax to remain unchanged across Galway as 19 local authorities vote for increases in 2020

Galway Bay fm newsroom - 19 of the 31 local authorities nationwide have increased the rate of local property tax for 2020.

However, Galway City and County are among 8 local authorities that will maintain the standard rate for next year.

Under the standard rate, the owner of a home valued between 300 and 350 thousand euro, is liable for 585 euro in tax.

However, Councillors have the power to vote on whether to increase or decrease the tax by up to 15 percent.

Kevin Doyle - Political Editor of Independent News and Media - says Dublin is the only area where there will be a reduction next year.
