The works include setting back boundary walls and installing a footpath to link existing footpaths along the Tuam Road.

The works when completed would improve sight lines for residents of Garrai Glas estate at the exit onto the Tuam Road.

Galway County Council has made an application for additional funding for the project to the Department of Transport under the Community Involvement Scheme.

Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney says the completed project will provide safer access for the residents and an uninterrupted continuous footpath along the Tuam Road will benefit pedestrians
