Galway Bay fm newsroom - Progress is being made on the traffic calming scheme planned for Claregalway.
County councillors are to meet at the Galway National Roads Project Office in Ballybrit this week to be fully briefed on all proposals for the scheme.
It's before the councillors will vote to approve the plans at the monthly council meeting next week.
County officials say the scheme has great potential for Claregalway with new footpaths, cycle lanes and pedestrian crossings to be provided.
It's also hoped it will resolve drainage issues.
However, local councillor, James Charity, has some concerns.
Councillor Charity says what TII has envisaged seems to be a town enhancement scheme and he's unsure how effective it will be in reducing traffic in the town.
