Galway Bay fm newsroom - The President of NUI Galway says the college's student accommodation is aimed at providing accessible and affordable bed spaces to students.
A new survey reveals the university took in €5.2m last year for student accommodation fees - a decrease of several hundred thousand euro for the second year running, despite rising rents.
It means the university has seen a drop of almost €1m in student rental income over the past two years.
The figures published by the Irish Independent, also reveal NUI Galway is the only one of the seven main universities nationwide with a downward trend.
