Galway Bay fm newsroom - Consultation on plans for new student accommodation at NUIG is taking place with An Bord Pleanala.
The college has submitted preliminary plans for Phase 2 of its student accommodation proposal for 471 bed spaces at the northern campus in Dangan.
The application goes straight to An Bord Pleanala rather than the local authority, under new legislation to fast-track large housing developments and student accommodation.
An Bord Pleanala will issue an opinion on whether the plans would be acceptable or need to be revised before submitting a full application.
