Galway Bay fm newsroom - Post mortem examinations are due on the bodies of a man and woman who died in a drowning tragedy in Co. Kerry.
It's understood they were siblings who were holidaying in the Ballybunion area - but the man was living in Roscommon, while his sister had an address in Sweden.
The alarm was raised just after 6 o'clock yesterday evening - after the man, who was 50 years old, was spotted in difficulty in the sea off Mans beach.
Members of Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue and Ballybunion Coast Guard attended the scene and began CPR - but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The woman, aged in her 60's, was found in the water during a follow up search - and she was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Local Sinn Féin Councillor Robert Beasley, who was on the beach yesterday evening, describes the conditions at the time.
Post-mortem examinations will take place at University Hospital Kerry later today.]
