Works to provide car parking facilities and a bus set down area for Portumna Castle will get underway in the coming months.
Minister of State and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon has confirmed that an area design has been submitted and tenders are almost ready to go out.
Visitor numbers at the 17th century castle have steadily increased year on year, with over 20 thousand people visiting the attraction in 2018.
Minister Cannon says the increase in visitor numbers to Portumna castle demanded the new facilities:
