Plaque unveiled at Eyre Square to commemorate murdered Corofin taxi driver Eileen Costello O Shaughnessy

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A plaque has been unveiled at Eyre Square to commemorate Corofin woman Eileen Costello O' Shaughnessy, who was murdered in Galway 25 years ago.

Gardaí have today renewed their appeal for information on the murder of the well-known taxi driver and mother-of-two on November 30th, 1997

She picked up a fare to Claregalway that day - her car was later found abandoned and her body was discovered off the N17 the following day.

Despite extensive investigations since then, no-one has been charged with her murder.

Several members of Eileen's family were at today's event, as well as friends and former colleagues.

Her brother Martin spoke to David Nevin about his late sister.
