Galway Bay fm newsroom - Plans for a major redevelopment of Galway Harbour are being unveiled this morning.
The vision for the harbour would involve the transformation of 17 acres of land surrounding the inner dock area.
It would also deliver a sustainable urban living quarter with a key focus on public realm space.
Proposed public amenities include cross-city walking and cycling routes, cultural and event spaces, recreational water sport facilities and a reimagined street network.
The project, in conjunction with the proposed port extension, aims to expand the city to the water's edge while future proofing the port as a transport and renewable energy hub.
The plans are being unveiled this morning as Galway Harbour Company opens a six week non-statutory public consultation period.

CEO of Galway Harbour Company Conor O'Dowd says the vision is to develop the harbour as a distinctive, vibrant and sustainable city centre neighbourhood.
He says the consultation seeks public views to inform the development of a design framework for the inner docklands.
