Galway Bay fm newsroom - Plans have been approved for a new building for Presentation College in Athenry.
The application for a 1,000 pupil school is part of an overall plan by the Department of Education to relocate four schools in Athenry town.
The new building will be two storey with linked single storey sports facility as well as on-site parking for cars and bicycles.
County planners have attached nine conditions.
One states the proposed roundabout, road realignment and footpaths including the revised documents submitted are to be carried out.
A full landscaping plan is also to be implemented within the first planting season.
The school will be located on a site already owned by the school, across from the Raheen Woods Hotel.
The Department of Education is also planning to build a new school for Clarin College, and a new Gaelcampus on the existing Clarin College site.
The Gaelcampus would see Gaelscoil an Eachreidh and Gaelscoil Riada located at the same site.
