Galway Bay fm newsroom - An application to demolish a vehicle workshop in Labane and replace with a new larger workshop has been turned down by the county council.
Adrian Quinn has been refused planning permission for the development at Ballymaquiff.
Adrian Quinn also applied to keep the existing car storage yard and sales area, but planners have refused to grant permission.
In refusing permission, county planners state that they're not convinced that the site, which is located beside an identified flood risk area, is not at risk of flooding in the future.
Planners also state that it would be prejudicial to public health due to unsatisfactory proposal for car washing disposal.
Finally, planners state that based on the information submitted by Adrian Quinn, including the absence of satisfactory information on autotracking for larger vehicles, the proposed development would endanger public safety by being a traffic hazard.
