Galway Bay fm newsroom - The planned wind-down of Coláiste an Chreagáin secondary school in Mountbellew is to be raised with the Education Minister.
OPW Minister and Galway East TD, Sean Canney is to raise the matter with Minister Richard Bruton following the revelation that the school would stop taking in first years from this September.
He's calling on the Galway and Roscommon Education Board not to make any hasty decisions with regard to the future of the school.
He claims any threatened closure is against current Government policy.
Speaking to Keith Finnegan, Minister Canney says it's essential that plans are put in place for Mountbellew to help and nurture vocational education in the area.
