Galway Bay fm newsroom - Plans to develop Loughrea Hotel & Spa have encountered a setback.
The proposal led by Atlantic Troy Ltd would have involved the construction of a new hotel suite building adjacent to the existing hotel.
The development would form part of the existing hotel complex and would consist of eight new bedroom suites.
It would also have involved the demolition of the existing unoccupied dwelling on site to accommodate same.
The proposal also provided for the construction of a new parking area adjacent to the hotel.
In refusing the proposal, county planners took note of the mass, scale and nature of the plan and stated it would constitute overdevelopment of a restricted site.
