Galway Bay fm newsroom - Transport Infrastructure Ireland has committed to providing funding for a new footbridge next to the Salmon Weir bridge in the city centre.
The proposed development is one of a number of measures being considered in a bid to alleviate Galway's chronic traffic problems.
It's hoped a separate footbridge adjacent to the existing structure will make cross-city journeys safer for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
