Galway Bay fm newsroom - An Bord Pleanála has backed the county council's decision to refuse permission to build a housing development in Turloughmore.
The application is led by Maria Flynn and would have involved 24 houses and associated garages at Lackagh Beg.
Earlier this year, county planners refused permission for the proposal stating the development would be premature and potentially prejudicial to public health.
The applicant then appealed the decision to An Bord Pleanala stating the upgrade of the treatment plant in question had already been granted planning approval in a separate application.
In making its decision, An Bord Pleanála stated it's not satisfied that the permitted wastewater treatment plant previously granted would adequately service the existing and proposed development.
It concluded it's not satisfied that the development would not be prejudicial to public health.
