Galway Bay fm newsroom - A petition to restore the Bus Eireann Galway-Dublin Expressway service has been handed to Transport Minister Eamon Ryan.
The petition, created by Sinn Fein, gathered close to 1,800 signatures.
It calls on Minister Ryan to intervene and restore the 20-X20 Expressway route, which was withdrawn last month by Bus Eireann as it was not commercially viable.
It serviced a number of towns and villages between Galway and Dublin including Craughwell, Loughrea, Aughrim and Ballinasloe.
Bus Eireann has previously stated the service was not State-subsidised and the decision was taken to ensure other Expressway services could remain viable and operational.
