Galway Bay fm newsroom - Over 1,100 new internet domains have been registered in Galway so far this year.
That accounts for over half of all new domains registered across Connacht between January and July.
There were 1,160 new dot ie domains registered in Galway during the first half of this year - that's according to research firm IE Domain Registry.
The figure accounts for over half of the 2,182 new domains registered across Connacht between January and July.
However, it's also a drop in growth for Galway - with new domain registrations down by over 12 percent compared to the first half of 2018.
Nationally, the biggest increase was in Co. Laois, which experienced a rise of almost 30 percent - while Co. Leitrim recorded a drop of almost 45 percent.
There are now 273 thousand domains recorded in the national database - representing growth of 40 percent over the last 5 years.
Over 80 percent of all dot ie domains are registered by companies and the self-employed.
