Galway Bay fm newsroom - There was an increase of a third in the number of planning permission requests granted for Galway county last year.
By December 2021, just over 900 dwellings were granted permission, while at the same time in 2022 over 1,200 were given permission.
In the first three quarters of 2022, 1,240 dwellings were given planning permission across the county.
According to CSO figures, this is an increase of over 300, or a third, on the same period the previous year.
The dwellings included in the research are houses, multi-developed houses, one-off houses and apartments.
Meanwhile, the city experienced a slight drop in the number of dwellings granted permission.
In 2021, 65 dwellings were given permission, while 57 were granted last year.
