Galway Bay fm newsroom - Over 700 homes in the west of the county are without power this morning as Storm Gareth passes over the country.
An orange wind warning came into effect for Galway last evening and will remain in place until 9am.
Winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour have hit parts of the west and north-west over the past 24 hours.
636 customers are without electricity in Clifden this morning with crews hoping to restore supply by this afternoon.
A further 100 households are without power in Oughterard, while a pocket of 12 homes are also impacted in Carraroe.
The ESB says its crews are ready to address any potential power outages and is warning people not to approach any fallen wires or cables, and to contact them immediately.
