From Galway Bay FM newsroom- The OPW is to officially hand over the Dunkellin Flood Relief Scheme at a ceremony in Craughwell tomorrow.
In 2010, a study on the Dunkellin River and the Aggard Stream, from Craughwell village to Kilcolgan, was commissioned as a result of flooding that occurred in the area in November 2009.
Measures include a combination of river widening and deepening, culvert upgrade and replacement, bridge improvement and replacement, as well as general channel maintenance.
The handover will be performed by OPW Minister Patrick O' Donovan, who'll give a speech to mark to occassion.
County Cathaoirleach Councillor Peter Keavney and CEO of Galway County Council Jim Cullen will also be in attendance.
The handover ceremony will take place in the village tomorrow Tuesday morning at 10.30am.
