Galway Bay fm newsroom - A workshop on Open Street Mapping will take place in the city later this week. (31/9)
OSM is a free map of the world constructed by volunteers across the globe, which can be edited.
The workshop is open to community groups, environmentalists, researchers and members of the public who want to learn about OSM.
Data for the map is crowdfunded through volunteers using manual surveys, GPS devices and aerial photography.
Users can map everything from housing, to waterways, wildlife and forestry, with the data available to researchers and the public for analysis.
The workshop takes place 11am on Saturday (31/8) at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at IDA Business Park, Dangan.
