Galway Bay fm newsroom - There's been a continued drop in the number of Covid-19 patients at Galway's public hospitals.
There are now 11 patients with the virus at UHG, down 2 since yesterday - while the number of ICU patients is unchanged at 5.
Meanwhile, there's a single Covid-19 patient at Portiuncula in Ballinasloe, down from two yesterday, and there continues to be no virus cases in the ICU.
It comes as the head of the Saolta Hospital Group has warned the number of Covid patients in hospital will continue to increase for the rest of the month
Nationally, 199 patients are in public hospitals with the virus, after a 35 per cent rise in the past two weeks.
The five-day moving average of new cases stands at 1,702 - over 450 more than a week ago.
Tony Canavan is chief executive of the Saolta Group, which runs the hospitals in the west and north-west - he says the hospital figure will grow more.
