Galway Bay fm newsroom - NUI Galway researchers are developing technology to aid early-identification of osteoporosis.

The tool, funded by the Health Research Board, would have the ability to identify if someone should be tested for osteoporosis within 60 seconds.
It has the potential to better determine if patients need to get a DEXA scan, which measures bone density.

Professor of Medicine at NUIG, John Carey, is also the Clinical Lead for DEXA, Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disorders, at Galway University Hospitals.
