Galway Bay fm newsroom - Research led by NUI Galway has found fewer children in Ireland are drinking or smoking.
The study on the health and wellbeing of school-aged children was commissioned by the Department of Health as part of a wider World Health Organisation study into the health of children around the globe.
Fewer children in Ireland are drinking or smoking, according to the study into the behaviours of 10 to 17 year olds.
It found almost two thirds of young people say they've NEVER had an alcoholic drink.
1 in 5 children have tried e-cigarettes at some stage, but only one in ten tried smoking - a drop of five percent.
However it shows a rise in bullying - with just under a third reporting being bullied.
