Galway Bay FM Newsroom – NUI Galway, working with Queens University Belfast and the RCSI University of Medicine, has launched a new network to improve the lives of those with multiple sclerosis.
The All-Ireland MS Research Network - or AIMS RN - was established in a bid to accelerate research into the disease.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, immune related condition of the central nervous system which results in a range of symptoms, which can vary in severity.
The new network aims is to limit the progression of the disease, train future generations of researchers, promote greater communication with the public, and contribute to global research.
It'll bring together scientists, clinicians, healthcare professionals and people with MS to accelerate research across the country - and further afield.
One of the founding members is Dr. Jill McMahon, a researcher and lecturer at NUI Galway who specialises in the research of neurological conditions.
Further information can be found on the newly launched All-Ireland MS Research Network website.
