Galway Bay fm newsroom - The President of NUI Galway says while instances of exam cheating are increasing, overall the number of cases remains extremely small.
Professor Ciarán Ó hÓgartaigh is reacting to new figures which reveal 'smart watches' are being linked with increases in cheating at colleges nationwide.
There's been a significant rise in exam breaches at NUI Galway - from 56 last year to 83 so far this year.
However, Professor Ó hÓgartaigh says when contrasted with the 19 thousand students attending NUI Galway, the numbers speak for themselves.
It's also being pointed out that exam breaches do not always mean cheating - in some cases, it relates to a student simply wearing a banned smart watch.
