The referendum states that NUI Galway's Students' Union supports the reunification of the island of Ireland, and calls on the state to hold a national referendum on the matter.
Students will cast their ballot on the matter when they go to the polls on Thursday week, the 2nd of March.
If the majority vote in favour, the SU will adopt a position supporting the reunification of Ireland.

The referendum was initiated by the Sinn Fein society by securing the required number of signatures.
