The Alumni Awards recognise individual excellence and achievements among the University’s more than 80,000 graduates worldwide.
The winners of the six alumni awards to be presented at Gala 2017 are Mike McCormack, Irish novelist and short story writer - who'll be awarded the Arts, Literature and Celtic Studies title
The Alumni Award for Business and Commerce goes to Tara McCarthy, CEO of Bord Bia.
The Alumni Award for Law, Public Policy and Government will be presented to Dr Tom Courtney, Corporate Partner in Arthur Cox.
Anne Marie Farrell, Head of Behavioural Economics Research Global SMB Marketing, at Google will be presented with the Alumni Award for Engineering, Science and Technology
The Alumni Award for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences wil go to Dr Eileen Naughten, Retired Consultant Paediatrician.
A Joint Alumni Award for Contribution to Sport will be presented to Dr Eoghan Clifford, Paralympic gold medal winner and NUI Galway Lecturer, and Paralympic Athlete Deirdre Mongan
Singer songwriter Paul Brady will perform at this year's gala event which takes place at NUI Galway's Bailey Allen Hall this evening.
