Galway Bay fm newsroom - NUI Galway is considering the creation of a visitor centre at the Quadrangle.
President of the university, Professor Ciarán Ó hÓgartaigh, says such a facility would complement the existing museum and art gallery.
He says the proposed development would open up the space - with students, the general public and tourists in mind.
It's as major refurbishment works are currently underway at the Quad - involving stonework, cleaning and roof replacement.
