Galway Bay FM newsroom - Home-owners in the city will see no increase to their Local Property Tax next year as city councillors voted to keep the status quo.

At a meeting last evening, there was almost universal agreement that given the current cost of living crisis, it was the only decision that could be made.
A proposal from Green Party Councillor Niall Murphy that it be increased by 15 percent was rejected by a factor of 13 votes to 2.

His only support came from his party colleague, Councillor Martina O' Connor.
Councillor Niall McNelis, who proposed there be no increase, says they recognise that people are struggling.
